Large disc earrings -- textured translucent
These disc earrings are bold and beautiful, making a statement both subtle and glittering, and comfortable for all day adventures.
This collection is called the PAVEMENT, both because the hammered textures remind me of the subtle patterns you might find under your feet during a walk, and as a nod to the ubiquitous Lawrenceville boutique, whose curatorial choices and cohesive, modern aesthetic is always impressive to me. And for the kind conversations struck up between strangers in former times as we’d wait for a brunch table at Coca Cafe (RIP).
1.25” in diameter, these earrings are made from hand stamped (cut out) repurposed roofing copper, a thin gauge of copper that truly exemplifies the magic of enameling—combining the strength and durability of metal with the bright colors of melted glass. After the circle cutting, each pair is textured using an array of hammers (a few of which I made myself!), and enameled with transparent enamel. These colors are more subtle than some of the other designs in my shop, but l love the duality of this type of glass, how a pair can look one color in soft light, and how they sparkle and reveal the texture underneath in brighter, direct light.
Disc backs are huffalo stamped and counter-enameled with variegated clear enamel. This color displays a remarkable range that varies depending on enamel application thickness, kiln firing time and temperature, and how much copper the glass absorbs during the firing. Especially with thin metal like this, counter-enameled keeps the metal at equilibrium, making a stronger and sturdier outcome.
A limited selection of options at the moment, but more to come. All pairs are READY TO SHIP.
Shown with sterling ear wires, more choices available at checkout. All items packed on a huffalo card, ready to gift, and minimally packaged using repurposed materials.
